Our commitment to accessibility

Langwarrin Health Clinic is committed to providing equitable access to our health information and services for all patients. Our website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA — the standard recommended by the Australian Human Rights Commission under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth).

This statement applies to our main website and any digital services provided directly by Langwarrin Health Clinic, including our online booking via HotDoc.

What ‘accessible’ means to us

Our website is designed around four core accessibility principles (POUR):

Perceivable

Information is presented so all users can access it. Images have text descriptions for screen readers.

Operable

All navigation and booking features work by keyboard — not just mouse or touchscreen.

Understandable

Plain language, clear headings, and helpful error messages throughout our site.

Robust

Compatible with assistive technologies including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver screen readers.

Accessibility features on our website

Our website is built to include the following accessibility features:

  • Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or function
  • Colour contrast meets the WCAG 2.2 minimum ratio (4.5:1 for normal text)
  • All images include descriptive alt text for screen readers
  • Page headings are structured hierarchically (H1, H2, H3) so screen readers can navigate clearly
  • Links describe their destination — not just ‘click here’
  • Forms have clear labels and plain-language error messages
  • The site is fully navigable by keyboard (no mouse required)
  • No content flashes more than three times per second, reducing seizure risk
  • PDF documents are provided in accessible formats where possible, or a text alternative is offered
Known limitations

What we are still working on

Some older PDF documents on our website may not be fully readable by screen readers. We are progressively updating these to accessible formats.  Our online appointment booking is managed by HotDoc, a third-party platform. We have requested accessibility information directly from HotDoc and will update this statement once we receive their response. In the meantime, patients who experience difficulty with HotDoc can book by calling us on 03 8789 9777.
